Last weekend our staff attended a seminar in Miami to improve our team knowledge on sedation dentistry.
There were four speakers that addressed different interesting topics, One of the speakers was a doctor from Harvard that explained the contradictions of diseases and medications that involve our patients qualified for sedation. To be totally successful with sedation dentistry you must understand the emotional state and have a deeper understanding of medicatons and drug-drug interactions. Dr. O'Neil purchased a software that we can enter the medications patients are currently taking, and it will let us know of any drug interactions as well as detailed information about the medications.
Through this sedation seminar we learned about protocols of different diseases, and medications that people are commonly taking. We also learned more information on how to make a patient feel more comfortable and at ease at the dental office.
We really enjoyed our seminar and will be attending many more to keep up with our education. The next seminar that we will be attending is in Orlando in June.
