INSURANCE BLUES
Insurance companies can be very complex and very difficult to understand, however insurance companies do play a large role in our Medical and Dental care. We find patients today want personalized, gentle and understanding dental care. Although the Managed care offices do not meet all of the patient's standards, they are being forced to use them due to their insurance. Many of our patients have learned of our discount for some insurance plans and do not think twice about choosing our office. Our patients appreciate being a part of their personalized dental treatment. Our office in Tamarac helps the patients with these and all Insurance Companies whether Private, Discount or Managed care. Come visit Dr. Thomas R. O'Neil to schedule the best dental care available. Trudy and Tammy

TEAM MEETING GET-AWAYS
What a Great time we had at the Florida National Dental Convention in Orlando! Thanks to the hotel's "reservation mix up" we all experienced the Gaylord Palms resort Presidential Suites. Along with 2 afternoon seminars we were able to relax, dine and enjoy the resort's amenities. But best of all was the company; we ate, drank and wore balloon hats with the greatest dental team anywhere. Thanks Team! By Dr. O'Neil and Chris

Cracked Tooth Syndrome
Cracked Tooth Syndrome: Is a term we use to describe recurring discomfort, sensitivity, or pain that is caused by a fracture. There are different reasons why teeth may crack. One is that they endure a tremendous amount of pressure from biting and chewing. Another reason is the heavy stresses of clenching and grinding. Decay, large silver fillings, chewing on ice or popcorn can also result in cracked teeth. To diagnose cracked tooth syndrome we will perform a thorough exam. If the crack affects only the outer enamel layer of your tooth it can be restored with a crown or onlay. If it affects the underlying dentin or pulp layers, the tooth may need root canal therapy before we can place a crown. In rare cases, if the crack extends all the way through the tooth and under the jawbone the tooth cannot be restored and must be extracted. Its important to evaluate and treat cracks as soon as possible because they can grow quickly. At our office in tamarac we offer the best solutions and options to treat cracked tooth syndrome. Dr. O'Neil's Hot Topic
No more pre-medication! You should be jumping for joy by now. We just made your trip to the dentist less stressful. For decades the American Heart Association (AHA) recommended that patients with heart conditions pre-medicate prior to receiving dental treatment. The AHA believed that taking antibodies would prevent Endocarditis (Infection of the heart vale/inner lining). The American Heart Association new guidelines were published April 2007. The AHA are now recommending that most of theses patients no longer have to take short term antibiotics as a preventive measure prior to getting dental treatment. You can now sleep stress free prior to coming to our gentle office....conveniently located in Tamarac, FL.
