At Dr. O’Neil’s office we believe patients should be offered choices in dentistry. For example, there are two types of caps or crowns. One has a metal substructure with porcelain on top and the other has a zirconia (metal-free) substructure with porcelain on top. The zirconia type is more cosmetic and expensive while the metal type is less cosmetic and about 25% less expensive.

Another example is that when you fill a missing tooth space with an implant, it is a surgical procedure as opposed to a non-removable bridge, which is less expensive, non-surgical, and requires fewer appointments for the patients. You may also fill a space with a removable partial denture which is a fraction of the cost of an implant or bridge.

Our belief is that all patients have different economic needs and wants. When we offer options, the patient can make a decision that fits their financial situation. Some patients may pick a more economic alternative now with the intent of changing to a more ideal choice at a later date.
